No records were ever released in conjunction with the last of the AIP Beach Party movies, The Ghost in the Invisible Bikini (1966), even though the AIP press book for that film refers to “an upcoming soundtrack album.”
This isn’t surprising. By the time Ghost was released, the series has clearly run out of steam (neither Avalon nor Funicello appeared in this film) leaving no potential/prior record partners interested in producing a tie-in product. That’s unfortunate, for despite the loss of the star couple the cast of the last Beach Party movie contained a large amount of vintage Hollywood talent: Boris Karloff and Basil Rathbone to name a few, as well as some impressive musical guests: a twenty five year old named Nancy Sinatra performs, as well as the Bobby Fuller Four of “I Fought The Law” fame. During the filming, Nancy was just a celebrity brat brought in to sing a throwaway dance piece (by a pool but sans bikini; in a 1999 interview Nancy said she refused to wear one, less out of modesty and more out of concern she’d upset her mother). However, by the time the movie came out in April 1966, she was enjoying sudden new popularity: less than two months earlier, she’d released a single titled “These Boots Are Made For Walking.”
